Pokki lets you pin your favorite web apps like Facebook or Gmail to the taskbar in Windows 7 – just like you do with traditional desktop software.
After installing Pokki on your system, a first module for Facebook is pinned to the taskbar right away. if you want to get more, simply click the Pokki icon (the white acorn) on the taskbar and browse the menu of available modules. They’re downloaded and installed in just a few seconds.
Each module in Pokki has its own settings and must be individually configured and authorized in the correspondent web application. Though they don’t include all the functions offered by the original web app, they a display the number of unread items and show desktop notifications – which comes in quite handy to track email and social networks.
Pokki includes a catalog of 15 modules, including Gmail, Facebook, Google search and other utilities such as a Twitter client, a color picker or a weather forecast tool. The program’s site includes a special area to encourage developers to create more modules, so hopefully we’ll see Pokki grow in the future.
